We have been retained by a well-renowned Tier 1 Aerospace & Defense organization in Irvine, to find their next VP of Engineering. They’re embarking on a period of significant R&D/NPI where they’ll be modernizing several existing platforms as well as introducing new and novel technology to meet the ever-evolving technological requirements of the Defense sector.

The responsibilities of the VP of Engineering are as follows:
- Oversee and lead the R&D of their early-stage TRL efforts to modernize and introduce new products to the market.
- Effectively manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams to drive projects and innovation – e.g. Software, Hardware, Systems
- Setting and monitoring KPIs and Metrics, establish and monitor performance and progress of engineering activities.
- Roadmap planning: set out and manage the engineering roadmap to ensure on-time delivery of projects in alignment with the business needs.
- Professional Development, implement training and development programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the cross-functional team.
- Communicate with Stakeholders effectively including executives, board members, and customers, to provide updates and present feedback.
The experience required for the VP of Engineering role is as follows:
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or relevant engineering discipline
- 15+ years of industry experience, ideally a background in Software, Systems, or Hardware
- Experience of leading cross-functional/multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- Experience of managing budgets and projects
- In-depth knowledge and experience of the full product life cycle – conception through to final customer release.
- Clear and effective leader and communicator.
