Job Description
Are you a Senior Thermal Engineer with Aerospace/ Automotive manufacturing experience?
Would you thrive in a dynamic, rapidly growing organization currently driving major innovations within the eVTOL space?
Our exclusive client, an innovative aerospace manufacturing organization, are seeking a Senior Thermal Engineer to join their Energy Storage and Power Systems (ESPS) team. In this role, you will be a key member of the Thermal Systems group, responsible for thermal design, analysis, and testing for the battery thermal management system of next-generation eVTOL aircrafts.
Responsibilities of the Senior Thermal Engineer:
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to design and optimize electromechanical assemblies for high-voltage components.
- Conduct thermal design and analysis for battery systems powering our eVTOL aircraft, ranging from hand calculations and 1D models to 3D multiphysics CFD simulations.
- Post-process and report analysis results to support design decisions, optimizing thermal management systems for performance and weight.
- Develop automated simulation toolchains that integrate with aircraft flight physics simulators, powertrain models, and cell electrochemical models to predict battery thermal behaviour across various flight scenarios.
- Support the development of system and subsystem-level thermal requirements, ensuring proper flow-down to components and parts.
- Support prototype builds and technology maturation testing to ensure thermal systems meet functional requirements.
- Provide analytical support throughout the product lifecycle, from preliminary design through development, validation, certification, and manufacturing.
- Familiarity with aircraft certification and aerospace development best practices and standards, including DO-160 and DO-311.
