Job Description

Are you a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager who wants to lead Sustainment and New Product Development teams? We have been retained by a manufacturing business to find an experienced engineering manager, who will serve as the site team captain for aerospace and defense operations based in Saint Louis, Missouri, with the potential to grow talent, lead the team and drive change.

Salary: 150-165k

Sustaining Engineering Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager:

  • Manages a group of engineers responsible for supporting production, purchasing and quality departments on engineering changes or issues with the products. 
  • Support sales and customer care department on technical questions and product support, as well as conducting customer training (internally & externally)
  • Responsible for generating and revising technical documents such as drawings, engineering reports, test forms and test procedures. 
  • Responsible for Product development based on existing products where a full development cycle isn’t necessary. 
  • Support the CAR Team on production corrective actions and product improvements. 
  • Troubleshooting assembly and testing production issues. 
  • Redrawing in CAD and releasing to production old hand sketches and drawings. 
  • Prepare, review, and approve technical drawings and documents and delegate signatory authority, while leading the document control area and the distribution of controlled documents.
  • Responsible for ensuring all direct reports have been trained to the most current engineering policies and procedures.

 
New Product Development Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager:

  • Manages a group of engineers leading the development of new products utilizing the stage gate process.
  • Identify project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing needs within the NPD organizations as well as with support organizations. 
  • Coordinate program-related activities with other organizations and resolve issues.
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Analyze test data and reports to determine if designs meet program specifications.
  • Interface with customers to ensure customer needs are understood and met. Provide status and progress reports to customers, the engineering team, and management. 
  • Prepare, review, and approve technical drawings and documents.
  • Provide direction on product data management for the business.
  • Be the champion for digital product definition for the business.
  • Make suggestions and be responsible for improvements to department business processes and procedures. 
  • Is cognizant of all relevant regulatory requirements; import/export, ISO-14971, ISO-13485, AS-9100D, and FDA
  • Responsible for ensuring all direct reports have been trained to the most current engineering policies and procedures

Requirements of the Engineering Manager:

  • BS in Engineering and a minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in engineering management and working in a related market or industry.
