CNC Mill & Lathe Machinist – 2nd Shift

Role & Responsibilities of the CNC Mill & Lathe Machinist:

As a CNC Machinist at our aerospace company, you will:

  • Set up and validate initial programs for CNC mills and lathes, ensuring precision and accuracy in machining.
  • Work with aerospace materials including castings and forgings, from aluminum to high-nickel alloys.
  • Perform inspections and validate key features directly at the CNC machines.
  • Collaborate with engineering, programming, and management teams to optimize machining processes and fixture designs.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding and application of geometric tolerancing in all machining operations.
  • Operate Vertical and Horizontal CNC Lathes with minimal supervision, ensuring adherence to specifications and high-quality standards.
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment to maintain tight tolerances and ensure high-quality output.
  • Prioritize workload effectively based on communication from QC and CNC managers.
  • Adapt to changing work priorities, overcoming machining obstacles to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, fluid environment.

Experience & Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in CNC machining, specifically with aerospace hardware and materials.
  • Expertise in setting up and running Vertical and Horizontal CNC Lathes.
  • Proven ability to read blueprints, particularly those supporting the aerospace industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of geometric tolerancing and precision measurement techniques.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of work quality.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and remain productive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on achieving perfect quality in all work.
