RPS are working closely with a well-known supplier of bespoke engineered parts to the UK aerospace sector, who are looking to recruit a Supplier Development Engineer to support their existing Manufacturing and Supply Chain functions. The role will be based primarily on-site at their facility near Daresbury and is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in engineering and manufacturing to progress into a complex and challenging supplier development position. There is a flexible starting salary band of between £40,000 and £50,000 p/a on offer, as well as additional training and benefits; is this something you would be interested in discussing further?
The Supplier Development Engineer will report to the Supply Chain Director and be responsible for managing all aspects of support to existing and new suppliers to help them develop and improve quality, costs and delivery time. With the support of senior management you’ll be attending regular and comprehensive performance reviews across the supply base and identifying and implementing corrective action plans to drive “Zero Defect” and 100% OTD mentality within the supply base.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1.           Lead supplier performance improvement projects, such as process analysis, value stream mapping, 6?Sigma, 5S and Kaizen events
2.           Champion RCCA implementation with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non?conformances and work to resolve supplier technical issues to ensure continuity of supply
3.           Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI’s, including Supplier OTD
4.           Develop long?term supplier relationships and generate and implement cost reduction ideas to support cost targets
5.           Assist Manufacturing in the evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials following a defined new product development/transfer process
To be considered for this Supplier Development Engineer position, your application will need to show a strong manufacturing or production background with knowledge of LEAN and Continuous Improvement, ideally in a regulated environment such as aerospace or automotive engineering. As well as knowledge of methodologies such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen and Root Cause Analysis, strong communication and presentation skills are also essential, as you’ll be required to influence and persuade at all levels both internally and externally.
