The responsibilities of a Strategic Sourcing Specialist are as follows:

  • Take ownership for the strategic direction of the organisations supply chain.

  • Manage the strategic sourcing activity from supplier selection, tendering process, price and contract negotiation through to contract award.

  • Select the supply chain to deliver the most efficient and cost-effective service to the organisation.

  • Establish the commercial framework in which the suppliers will operate, ensuring cost competitiveness, cost avoidance and value improvement are achieved.

  • Take responsibility for and resolve any commercial issues arising within the supply chain.

  • Own the strategic and operational management of Indirect components. 

  • Develop and implement supplier and commodity strategies which drive sustainable improvements in overall supply chain performance.

  • Develop innovative solutions to rationalise the supplier base identifying preferred sources of supply and introducing new sources of supply where applicable.

  • Lead cross functional workshops to develop the strategy and sourcing plans to meet annualised and in year savings targets.

  • Lead Business Review meetings with Suppliers engaging the appropriate internal resource.

  • Engage with internal stakeholders (Value Stream Managers) to understand customer requirements

  • Maintain close relationships with internal functions including but not limited to Engineering, Finance, Planning and Continuous Improvements.

  • Provide support to the Business Development team in fronting any potential new opportunities where Supply Chain engagement is required.

To fulfil these responsibilities of Strategic Sourcing Specialist you must require the following skills / experience:

  • Currently hold or working towards CIPS Membership and/or significant industry experience.

  • Strategic Supply Chain experience within a manufacturing environment.

  • Proven track record of delivering results.

  • Contract negotiation experience is essential

  • Exposure to the Aerospace market / Awareness of Aerospace regulations
