Are you an experienced Strategic Buyer looking for a role within a leading aerospace and defence manufacturer? The key responsibilities of the Strategic Buyer include:

  • Managing and driving down total acquisition costs whilst handling complex sourcing processes and activity within a complete manufacturing outsourcing environment

  • Reducing inventory and increasing stock turns

  • Manage all commodities and the associated supplier base including indirect procurement activities

  • Negotiating contracts and service level agreements and managing commercial terms and conditions

  • Foster supplier partnerships and collaboration whilst managing supplier performance in low-cost country environments

  • Lead and support lean methodology and continuous improvement both internally and within the supply chain and sub-tiers

  • Manage and foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders including the support of tactical buyers

  • Implementation of competitive sourcing strategies for commodity or spend responsibility expenditure

As Strategic Buyer, you’ll fulfil the below requirements:

  • Professional qualification in purchasing (such as CIPS) or a relevant business degree

  • Experience working in a manufacturing /engineering environment and a high compliance, high technology industry

  • Significant international strategic procurement experience, particularly within a technical environment

  • Experience with sourcing in low cost offshore economies

  • Experience of manufacturing outsourcing, managing first tier and sub-tier procurement activity

  • Ability to optimize value and drive down cost across a complex, full systems assembly supply chain

  • Ability to forge strong internal and external relationships

  • Be prepared to travel, including overseas, as required (typically several weeks per quarter)

  • Excellent communication and IT skills
