The responsibilities of the Skilled Engineer will be as follows:-

  • Lead Point of Contact for all machines & machining activities from a New Product Introduction and Continuous Improvement perspective

  • Ensure machining program control for all products and all stages of machinery

  • Liaise with Manufacture Engineering from a process critique aspect and provide constructive, data driven feedback when proving out processes and troubleshooting processes

  • Analyse tooling wear characteristics and generate / populate the applicable quality documentation, validating tools, tool lives, coolants, fixtures and machined surfaces

  • Be a key member of the manufacturing team leading pFMEA activities to identify and eliminate risk within manufacturing activities

  • Ensure throughout NPI / CI development and validation process that effective change control is maintained

  • Assessing the safety impact of new equipment and processes

  • Working with Manufacture Engineering, develop methods and processes that optimise recurring manufacturing costs in line with business case requirements

  • Deliver training and sign-off of Operators for proven processes to support Operations in recurring manufacture activities

 

The qualifications / skills required for the Skilled Engineer are as follows: -

  • Time Served/Degree Qualified/Apprentice Trained Machinist

  • Deep understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing

  • Extensive experience in the use and operation of 5 axis machinery

  • Experience in machining of exotic materials

  • Demonstrable problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrable communications skills complimenting extensive and effective teamworking

  • NC program reading and understanding (5 axis Milling & turning)
