As a Principal Stress Engineer you will perform many varied tasks including:
Utilising classical Miners type calculations and computer simulation software to determine the fatigue life of components.
The production of FEA on both systems and components, utilising ABAQUS software.
Translation of airworthiness requirements and specifications into generating test procedures.
Further to these activities, Principal Stress Engineers are also required to supervise teams of engineers; the supervision would contain the planning and allocation of the workload within those teams.
As the successful Principal Stress Engineer you’ll have:
Experience of stress and fatigue analysis is essential, preferably within the aerospace industry.
Experience of Finite Element Analysis is again essential, preferably with the use of ABAQUS/CAE, although training can be provided.
You also have demonstrable experience with MATHCAD.
You’ll have the necessary leadership competencies to succeed the incumbent Chief Engineer.
