The responsibilities of the Process Safety Engineer are as follows:


  • Support the Business Health & Safety Manager in developing the Safety Management System

  • Providing best practice based advice on standards and systems; owning and developing process safety documents and data bases; coaching the relevant teams in risk analysis techniques such as (HAZOP, What if, Process Hazard Reviews etc).

  • Develop, own and communicate process safety standards (i.e. Risk assessment, LOPA, OBRA, MOC, Human factors, Emergency Preparedness etc)

  • Supporting the development and delivery of Process Safety Implementation plans across the Business


To fulfil the role of Process Safety Engineer you must have the following skills / experience:


  • Good understanding of Process Safety management and COMAH (Seveso III) and demonstrated level of professional competence in process safety speciality (e.g. PHR HAZOP, Risk assessment, LOPA, SIL, OBRA, MOC, DSEAR, Human factors, Emergency Preparedness etc) Able to facilitate and lead risk assessment processes.

  • Products and Processes

  • Understand industry environment, and processes, sufficiently to advise on process safety.

  • Change Management
