A leading UK brand in bespoke engineered solutions for critical applications is now looking to recruit an Applications Engineer to join their growing workforce in Leeds. This role is perfect for someone from an Applications, Design or Project Engineering background who is looking to develop and progress their career and skillset. The position is offering a salary of between £35,000 and £45,000 p/a, a competitive pension package and an annual bonus scheme.

 

The Position

As Applications Engineer you’ll be play an integral role in the Engineering team with their overall objective of developing bespoke, innovative, and technical solutions.  The role requires you to engage with the necessary teams, suppliers, and customers to deliver unmatched engineering proposals and provide solutions for demanding applications, while providing exceptional pre and post sales technical support to both internal and external customers. The Applications Engineer will also aid in developing and maintaining strong customer relations by communicating with customers on a technical level to enable growth within the business.  New Product Development is key to their success and the Applications Engineer will support programmes of design and validation utilising both in-house testing facilities and customer validation requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve a solid understanding of the core company products and become a key contact within the business based on your knowledge and recognition as a subject matter expert
  • Produce Technical Proposals, including concept design, detail, assembly, and proposal drawings
  • Play a key role in the New Product Development activities through design, validation and testing of products
  • Maintain test schedules, report writing, present results, suggest further work and alternative ideas
  • Project management – collate application parameters, agree, and achieve milestones
  • Maintain relationships with key customers, including making visits, and provide pre- and post-sales technical support for internal and external customers
  • Assist with feasibility studies and design verification exercises
  • Deliver instant service and show engineering competence plus familiarity with customer and supplier arrangements
  • Work with the Sales, Production, Marketing, Quality Assurance, and the Supply Chain to ensure the correct level of technical support is provided where necessary

 

Job Qualifications & Experience

•            HNC Mechanical Engineering, or similar level of experience

•            Experience in a similar Engineering role, ideally with knowledge of engineering materials such as plastics and polymers

•            Experience using CAD software, ideally Autodesk Inventor

•            A strong understanding of engineering principle and drawings

•            Strong communication skills and confident in dealing with internal teams and customers

•            Experience in developing technical reports and presentations

•            Experience of working with data collection, part numbering and document control systems, ideally using CRM or ERP

•            Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical and structured approach
